This photo, and those from the next batch of posts, were found by Jennifer, who seems to have acquired (let’s not say stolen by witchcraft) my ability to find things relevant to this blog. They were all found on a nature strip; left out for hard rubbish collection.

Lost Property, October 2009

This post is going to be a bit less interesting than I imagined. I’ve realised that most of what is interesting about this box of lost property (found in a skip last year) is n…ot information I feel right in publishing. Particulars from wallets, names, and often the connections between seemingly impersonal things. But it is still interesting! Let’s start with a tally of the contents I won’t include photos of:

  • 22 keys, in 10 sets
  • 8 pairs of glasses
  • 7 sets of ear phones
  • 4 mobile phones
  • 4 computer discs, DVDs, etc.
  • 3 odd earrings
  • 2 phone chargers
  • 2 rings
  • 1 portable harddrive
  • 1 computer mouse
  • 1 lens cleaning cloth
  • 1 umbrella
  • 1 laptop charger
  • 1 comedy show ticket
  • 1 large hair clip
  • 1 stapler
  • 1 diary (which I may post a few images from)

Below we have photos of containers and their contents. There were also two wallets that I am not including here. I will say that one of them contained several instances of the curious surname ‘Unthank’.

The cards in the picture following are French language helpers.

Here are photos taken from all the IDs I found. Mostly they’re library cards. Sorry about the layout’s messiness.

These were found on Gower Street, Preston. Near the library.

I have a modest collection of found playing cards that I’ve been meaning to put up for a while. Some, like these, suggest a story. Others are just beautiful things.
