This photo, and those from the next batch of posts, were found by Jennifer, who seems to have acquired (let’s not say stolen by witchcraft) my ability to find things relevant to this blog. They were all found on a nature strip; left out for hard rubbish collection.
I assume ‘Calif.’ is short for ‘California’. Perhaps the bit before is the ‘ica,’ of ‘Santa Monica,’?

This photo reminds me of an exhibition I saw at the Monash University Museum of Art: Photographer Unknown. Particularly the interestingly ordered photos by Patrick Pound, more particularly his category of photos which include the photographer’s shadow, often to the benefit of the composition, and significant change to the subject. Examples are in the header image of the exhibition page linked above.
